CAC Gas Cylinder Return Program
CAC Gas is committed to reducing unnecessary waste and extending the usable life of cylinder assets by recovering, refilling, reusing, and recycling returned cylinders wherever possible. Customers wishing to return calibration gas cylinders, originally supplied by CAC Gas, should first contact our Customer Support team at cac@cacgas.com.au.
Securely pack the cylinders according to our guidelines (see below) and complete the Cylinder Return Request Form (see below). All returns must be authorised by a CAC Gas representative prior to shipment.
Once approved, CAC Gas will arrange collection anywhere within Australia. We can also assist with suitable packaging solutions for the return of empty cylinders. Please note that gas cylinders are dangerous goods and must be handled and transported correctly. Refer to the relevant SDS and ensure appropriate PPE is worn when handling cylinders. Dangerous goods freight and packaging requirements must be followed at all times.
CAC Gas cannot accept:
- Cylinders from other manufacturers
- Cylinders that are not clearly identified
- Cylinders classified as Toxic Gas (Class 2.3)
- Returns submitted without a valid RMA number
Cylinders received without prior approval or attached RMA paperwork may be returned to the sender.
Prior to shipment, a Cylinder Return Request Form must be completed.
CAC Gas will facilitate the return freight of high-pressure cylinders that were originally supplied by CAC Gas.
We can also provide specialised packaging solutions for returning empty CAC Gas cylinders. See the full terms and conditions here.
Gas cylinders are dangerous if handled incorrectly. Refer to SDS and wear appropriate PPE when handing gas cylinders.
CAC Gas cannot accept any return of cylinders which are not properly identified. Returns without a valid RMA number will be rejected and returned to sender. CAC Gas cannot accept cylinders with a classification of Toxic Gas (Class 2.3).
- Do not de-valve, drain, or puncture cylinders unless otherwise instructed.
- Do not remove part code labels
Packing Guidelines:
All products must be packed according to The Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail (ADG Code). Senders are responsible for packing in accordance with regulations and are open to liability if packed incorrectly.
- Any cylinder with a mixture classified as a 2.2 non-flammable, non-toxic gas, with a residual pressure equal to or greater than 29kPa is considered dangerous goods.
- Any cylinders with a mixture classified as a 2.1 flammable gas is considered dangerous goods even if fully vented. Do not remove any labelling from these cylinders.
All cylinders must be marked correctly, or, if emptied, all DG markings removed (note: do not remove part code labels). If cylinder markings are obscured by packaging, an overpack label must be used.
All cylinders must be packed securely.
Non-refillable cylinders, and high-pressure cylinders equal to or less than 10L water capacity may be returned in cartons. All products must be securely packaged in such a way that they will not move around during transport, and cartons must be suitably strong.
High-pressure cylinders of a capacity greater than 10L water capacity must be packed on a pallet and strapped with metal strapping or sent in a cylinder stillage. CAC Gas can supply pallets to suit cylinders up to 7x 50L water capacity. CAC Gas can accept cylinders in stillages but will not cover the freight cost of cylinders sent in a stillage, or the return of the stillage to the consignee. If stillages are not collected in a timely manner, storage charges may be incurred. Stillages must not weigh more than 1250Kg (12x 50L cylinders).
When packing on a pallet;
- Lay cylinders horizontally in a pyramid configuration, with a maximum of two layers.
- Ensure no part of the cylinder or valves overhang the edge of the pallet.
- Ensure all cylinders are fitted with valve protection caps or collars.
- Handwheels on dual-port valves are removeable. Please ensure all handwheels are safely secured.
CAC Gas reserves the right to refuse delivery of packages not packed in accordance with the above guidelines.
